- Facial features are beginning to form — small dark spots for eyes, nostril pits.
- The jaw, cheeks, and chin are developing.
- Arm and leg buds are growing longer.
- The liver, kidneys, and lungs are beginning to form.

- Nausea may peak around this time for many women.
- Food aversions and cravings can be intense.
- Mood swings are common due to hormonal changes.
- Saliva production may increase (ptyalism).
- Heartburn and indigestion can begin.
