Development
- The fertilized egg (now a blastocyst) is traveling down the fallopian tube.
- The blastocyst is dividing rapidly into hundreds of cells.
- Implantation into the uterine wall will happen around days 6–12 post-fertilization.
- The cells are already organizing into what will become the baby and the placenta.
How you might feel
- No obvious symptoms yet — conception just happened.
- Some women notice light implantation spotting (can be mistaken for a light period).
- The uterine lining is thickening to support implantation.
- hCG hormone production begins after implantation.
Things to do this week
- Continue prenatal vitamins
- Avoid X-rays, certain medications, and raw foods
- Begin reducing alcohol if not already done — now is the time
- Rest well — your body is working hard
When to contact your care team
This is general guidance, not medical advice.
- Contact your care team if you experience heavy bleeding — it may not be implantation spotting.
