Development

  • The embryonic period is complete — baby is now officially a fetus.
  • All vital organs are formed and beginning to function.
  • Bones and cartilage are beginning to develop.
  • Baby can now open and close its fists.
  • The brain is developing at an incredible rate.

How you might feel

  • Increased blood flow may cause visible veins and a warmer feeling.
  • Nausea and food aversions continue for most women.
  • You may begin to show very slightly if this is not your first pregnancy.
  • Heartburn and indigestion are common.

Things to do this week

  • Schedule NIPT or nuchal translucency screening if desired (typically done weeks 10–13)
  • Talk to your provider about prenatal genetic testing options
  • Ensure your diet includes calcium, iron, and DHA
  • Consider a pregnancy pillow for better sleep
