Development
- The embryonic period is complete — baby is now officially a fetus.
- All vital organs are formed and beginning to function.
- Bones and cartilage are beginning to develop.
- Baby can now open and close its fists.
- The brain is developing at an incredible rate.
How you might feel
- Increased blood flow may cause visible veins and a warmer feeling.
- Nausea and food aversions continue for most women.
- You may begin to show very slightly if this is not your first pregnancy.
- Heartburn and indigestion are common.
Things to do this week
- Schedule NIPT or nuchal translucency screening if desired (typically done weeks 10–13)
- Talk to your provider about prenatal genetic testing options
- Ensure your diet includes calcium, iron, and DHA
- Consider a pregnancy pillow for better sleep
