Week 29

Third Trimester

Strong Kicks

Baby's movements are strong and frequent. Muscle development is advanced and your little one is practicing the skills they'll need outside the womb.

This week's tip

💡 Heartburn can be relentless now — try eating your largest meal at lunch rather than dinner, and keep your head slightly elevated when you sleep.

Development

  • Muscle and lung development are accelerating.
  • Baby is accumulating more fat beneath the skin.
  • Head and brain growth is rapid.
  • Baby can taste, hear, and see light.
  • Movements are very strong — kicks may even be visible through your belly.

How you might feel

  • Fatigue returns as the body works harder to support baby.
  • Heartburn and indigestion are often worse now.
  • Back pain may intensify.
  • Pelvic girdle pain (SPD) is common as joints loosen.

Things to do this week

  • Take rest breaks throughout the day — don't push through fatigue
  • Small, frequent meals manage heartburn better than three large ones
  • Consider a pregnancy support belt for back and pelvic pain
  • Finalize your birth preferences document

When to contact your care team

This is general guidance, not medical advice.

  • Contact your care team if pelvic pain is severe enough to affect walking.

Partner tip

Take over the harder physical tasks at home: grocery shopping, vacuuming, laundry. Your partner's body is working at maximum capacity.
